MISSION
HACES is consciously committed to meeting the vast needs of a diverse and growing immigrant community in Lake County. Their mission is "to provide the expertise and navigational support for immigrants and citizens to become knowledgeable, empowered members of society".
CASE FOR SUPPORT
In the city of Waukegan and the entire Lake County area there are 155,000 Hispanic/Latino residents and 120,494 are Spanish speakers. In Waukegan, IL alone, there are 48,700 Hispanic/Latino residents and many of those residents are under served.
HACES has provided the Lake County community with resources for residents who need immigration legal assistance. HACES processed 444 DACA renewals in 2019. DACA has provided many people who arrived in the U.S at an early age with the ability to obtain a social security number and a work permit.
All of those things allow the DACA recipients to obtain jobs with benefits, attend college, and have a valid driver’s license. HACES provides the education and resources to the Hispanic community members most in need of advocates.
